130 MPH Wind Resistance

Wind Resistant Shingles Header

You'll Be Blown Away,
Your Shingles Won't

Bigger Technology, Bigger Performance.

Let the wind blow. Your roof isn't going anywhere. Atlas StormMaster® Shake, StormMaster Slate, Briarwood Pro™and Castlebrook® 35 high-performance shingles are designed to stay put in winds up to 130 mph - and look good in the process.

Your protection starts with the biggest wind rating available in the industry at 130 mph with a standard application. The shingles are bigger too, meaning they are faster & easier to install while providing a more attractive architectural profile than the competition.

So breathe a sigh of relief. The storm’s bluster is no match for Atlas’ high-performance shingle technology.

Why We Worry About Wind

Roof with blown off shingles

Two things keep your shingles on the roof: nails in the right spot and an adhesive sealant line that makes the shingle stick to the one below it. Most asphalt shingles have a narrow nailing area that is hard to see, which means installers can easily miss it. Additionally, most shingles are only manufactured with one small sealant line. In fact, the best wind rating most shingles can earn is 110 mph without complicated and costly additional applications. Improper nail placement, sealant failure, and high wind can help blow many shingles off, sending your roof flying everywhere and leaving your home vulnerable to damage.

High Wind Shingles Featuring Double Seal Technology

HP Shingle Benefits

Atlas HP “Double Seal” Technology helps your shingles stay put, even in strong winds. StormMaster® Shake, Briarwood Pro® and Castlebrook® 35 wind-resistant shingles come standard with:

  • Industry leading “sweet-spot” nailing area – Highly visible and easy to nail
  • Double FASTAC adhesive sealant lines – Double the coverage from most shingles

Not only will they resist blow-offs, these bigger-than-average dimensional shingles offer a larger 6” exposure for a more attractive look.

StormMaster® Shake, Brairwood Pro™ and Castlebrook® 35 shingles also feature Scotchgard™ Protector, which helps the shingles resist the black streaks caused by algae.
